What is your university all about?
Mälardalen University is a progressive and collaborative University where we together shape a sustainable future. Why is international cooperation important for your university?
One of the University’s overarching goals is that all students and staff shall have the opportunity for some form of intercultural contact or activity. The internationalization at MDU takes departure in the belief that intercultural differences are part of everyday life and that they are important for the intellectual development of the individual.
Why is your involvement with SIREUS important for your university?
SIREUS is a project that gathers 12 strong Swedish universities in a unique collaboration with American universities and companies. We see it as a great opportunity for MDU to increase our collaboration both with Swedish and American academic partners, as well as to extend our coproduction activities to the international context.
What is the most important aspect of the SIREUS project for your university?
To create a sustainable collaboration platform with American universities that will enable student and staff exchange and joint research and education projects. Increased talent attraction to MDU and to our industrial partners. Internships for our students and employees from partner companies.
Why should students, researchers and faculty spend time at KTH?
MDU is one of Sweden’s foremost HEIs when it comes to collaboration. Together with some of Sweden’s largest companies, such as ABB and Volvo, research is carried out which contributes towards the development of society both nationally and internationally. Our research in Embedded Systems and Future Energy has been pointed out by industrial partners as a national leader and internationally well-established. If you want to gain state-of-the-art theoretical knowledge applied in a sharp industrial context, you should come to us.
What can you tell us about life outside your university?
There are plenty of reasons for you to choose Mälardalen University: top modern campuses, teaching, and mindset along with outstanding research and an active student community. The University is located one hour drive from Stockholm, in the cities of Eskilstuna and Västerås by the Lake Mälaren. Being one of the oldest cities in Sweden and northern Europe, Västerås offers landmarks and buildings to see from the Viking age.
