What is your university all about?

Why is international cooperation important for your university?
The university has 3100 employees and 10,000 students. Research must by its nature be connected globally to be competitive and relevant. For coming generations of researchers it is necessary to gain international exposure and international collaboration during doctoral studies is the norm. Most Chalmers graduates enter into business, existing or newly started, that see the world as their home arena. A wide offer of international experience helps them on their way to successful careers.
Why is your involvement with SIREUS important for your university?
To Chalmers, SIREUS offers an opportunity to strengthen and build further on already established collaboration in USA, and to add new partners and collaborative forms. SIREUS is also expected to enhance Chalmers attraction as the university’s strengths become more well known.
What is the most important aspect of the SIREUS project for your university?
Initially, recruitment of students to Chalmers more than 40 Master programs will be a priority along with establishing more joint project courses together with universities in the US, usually with corporate partners’ involvement. Late, Chalmers will take advantage of the SIREUS platform to reach new levels of research cooperation, inter alia by getting at better understanding of funding opportunities and rules.

Chalmers is a true leader in academic cooperation with the corporate sector. Based on scientific rigor, research and education is conducted in close relationship with industrial partners and with a view on societal challenges. What can you tell us about life outside your university?
Gothenburg is, according to several surveys, Sweden’s most popular student city. With the close partner, the comprehensive University of Gothenburg, the students and academic staff make up a significant part of the city’s population without dominating. The city is big enough to host major events in culture and sports. As a city based on trade and industry, it has a direct tone and relaxed atmosphere. An exciting archipelago and beautiful landscapes are easily accessible. The city has since its foundation in 1621 always been open to the world.
