What is your university all about?
Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) is our main profile and has been part of University West since we were founded in 1990. WIL is an integral part of our education, research and collaboration and defines everything that we do.
WIL is about learning through a lively exchange of ideas, reflection and active participation. It is the basic principle that we apply to learning, the exchange of ideas, and educational development. In 2002 University West was commissioned by the Swedish government to develop forms for work-integrated learning as part of the work with pedagogical renewal of higher education.
AREAS OF STRENGTH: WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING AND PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY.
UW are concentrating our efforts on two complete academic environments, Work Integrated Learning and Production Technology, where we integrate collaboration, research and education at all levels and create new multidisciplinary knowledge.
Why is international cooperation important for your university?
Our definition of a complete academic environment is a well-integrated education and research environment, that includes undergraduate programmes, master’s programmes, doctoral studies (1st, 2nd-, and 3rd-cycle levels), as well as competitive international research.
Our strategies are, students work side by side with doctoral students, researchers and collaboration partners to tackle today's and tomorrow's societal problems. The university acts locally, regionally and nationally to find solutions that can be transferred to corresponding international and global challenges. It is also central that the courses, projects and programs that are developed in education, research and collaboration are characterized by multidisciplinary collaborations.
Why is your involvement with SIREUS important for your university?
USA is an important market for Swedish company and universities in USA are top ranked in the world.
What is the most important aspect of the SIREUS project for your university?
Research collaboration and sending studenten between us and USAn universities that will study and also do Internship.
University West believes in internationalisation as a cornerstone in education and research. Therefore we are an active partner in many international organizations and partnerships.
Why should students, researchers and faculty spend time at University West?
We have high rank research in some areas and many courses taught in English.

University West collaborate with many companies in Sweden and offering Internship. The students environment has really hight quality and is located only 35 minites from Gothenburg.
